CAP Carpet & Flooring sees huge results with BizRecycling Grant Program

CAP Carpet & Flooring, Inc. is a locally-owned and operated flooring showroom and warehouse located in New Brighton, Minnesota.

CAP Carpet & Flooring began working with Minnesota Waste Wise after learning about the BizRecycling Grant Program that was available to assist them with reducing waste, increasing recycling, and possibly saving money as well!

Minnesota Waste Wise identified opportunities to execute recycling best practices and assisted CAP Carpet with applying for the BizRecycling Grant. After being awarded the grant, CAP Carpet was able to invest in color-coded, paired, and labeled recycling bins throughout their facility, in addition to specialty collection bins for plastic film, and hourly reimbursement for staff training.

Since implementing their grant project, CAP Carpet is on track to divert 10,920 lbs. of recyclable material from our local landfills, annually! Additionally, they are now collecting plastic film from their waste stream, keeping an additional 600 pounds of material out of their dumpsters.

“We have more space in our warehouse and less clutter now that everything has a proper bin to go in. Our dumpster went down from 3 pick-ups to two pick-ups a week; our employees are excited about it," said Kurt Kampa, Shipping and Receiving Coordinator.
