$47M+ in Industrial Innovation Grants for Minnesota food and beverage leaders
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has launched two significant grant programs under the Climate Smart Food Systems (CSFS) initiative, offering over $47 million to help Minnesota’s food and beverage industry remain competitive by optimizing resources and reducing waste.
1. Industrial Innovation Implementation Grants
This program provides $40 million in competitive funding for capital expenditure projects that cut climate pollution and improve operational efficiency. Large-scale projects are eligible for awards between $3 million and $8 million, covering up to 60% of total project costs. Eligible initiatives include boiler upgrades, industrial heat pumps, electrification of equipment and waste heat recovery systems. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly (July 1, October 1, January 1, and April 1). Learn more here.
2. Technical Assistance and Planning (TAP) Grants
For businesses seeking to identify or evaluate potential decarbonization efforts, the TAP program offers $7.2 million for facility-specific studies. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 can cover up to 90% of costs for feasibility studies, energy assessments and greenhouse gas inventories. TAP applications are reviewed on the 21st of each month. Learn more here.
