Director, Special Events

Joan Zweber, CMP is Director, Special Events at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. Joan is responsible for coordination of member meetings and events including Session Priorities, Business Day at the Capitol, Annual Meeting and Board of Director meetings. Joan has been on staff since 1992 and has worn several hats at the Minnesota Chamber with committee assignments ranging from working with the small business members on the White House Conference on Small Business to managing the Chamber’s Foundation Board of Directors. Prior to joining the staff at the Minnesota Chamber, Joan was Director, Member Services for the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce.

Joan has a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and is a graduate of the U.S Chamber Institute of Organizational Management. She earned her Certified Meeting Professional designation in 1999 and served on the Minnesota Chapter of Meeting Professionals International Board of Directors from 2005-2007.  She continues to be active in the chapter.

Joan was honored as the Meeting Planner of the Year in 1998 by the Minnesota Chapter of MPI and received an EMPI award in 2008 for Best Meeting/Event of the Year. In February 2009, she was inducted into the Minnesota Meetings & Events magazine’s Hall of Fame as the Best Special Events Planner for 2008.

Joan lives with her husband in Prior Lake. She enjoys time with family and is active with her parish community.
